Niamh Murray - International Soprano

An immensely versatile and charismatic artiste, Niamh is regarded as one of Ireland's finest sopranos.
Niamh initially studied at the Royal Irish Academy of Music and with Dr. Veronica Dunne before winning a scholarship to study at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester. Further international studies were facilitated by the Italian Government when Niamh had the honour of studying with Maestro Carlo Bergonzi, Siena, Italy.
A graduate of Carysfort College with a Bachelor of Education degree, Niamh has a Licentiate in Speech and Drama and is an Associate of the London College of Music. In October 2010 Niamh was conferred with a Masters in Performance and Musicology from Maynooth College.

She has won most of the major singing awards and prizes in Ireland, including the Dramatic Cup and Geoghegan Cup at the Dublin Feis Ceol, along with the awards for the best female singer at The Waterford International Festival of Light Opera, The Derry Festival of Light Opera, The Northern Ireland Festival of Light Opera and with The Association of Irish Musical Societies.
Niamh was the first ever recipient of the Margaret Burke Sheridan gold medal and she also treasures her John Count McCormack gold medal.
Niamh's versatility as an artiste can be seen from her extensive repertoire including leading performances in opera, oratorio, musicals and recitals from "La Boheme" to "Carmen", "Oklahoma" to "Die Fledermaus", "Carmina Burana" to the "Messiah", appearing with every major musical and choral society throughout the length and breadth of Ireland along with appearances with the RTE Concert and Symphony Orchestras and Opera Ireland and Wexford Festival of Opera.
Niamh's recitals include the Bank of Ireland Recitals in the House of Lords and the Art's Centre, A.I.B. Lunchtime Concerts at the National Concert Hall, the Royal Hospital Kilmainham Recitals and the R.D.S. Musician Series Recitals.
Niamh has chosen to base her very busy career in Ireland although, to date, that career has taken her all over the world with singing engagements in Wales, England, France, Italy, Spain, as well as touring the East coast of America twice when leading lady with Jury's award winning Irish Cabaret. Niamh had the wonderful honour of representing Ireland in Katowice, Poland when she sang in an internationally televised Gala Concert celebrating Poland's accession to the E.U.
Niamh has broadcast on R.T.E., Ch.4 and on the Australian Television Networks as well as appearing on the B.B.C's production of 'Songs of Praise' when broadcast from The Vatican and from Rome.
Niamh has also presented classical music programmes on Lyric FM and on Anna Livia 103.2FM called 'Thank you for the Music'.
In March 2000 and November 2004 Niamh sang to over 50,000 fans in Lansdowne Road at the Ireland v Italy and Ireland v South Africa international rugby matches.....Ireland won both matches!!!
Her sporting activities do not end there, in July 2005 Niamh managed to climb to the very top of one of the world's highest mountains when she climbed Kilimanjaro in Tanzania in aid of Refugee Trust International.
Along with all these achievements Niamh is a prolific recording artiste with numerous albums to her credit including "A Fairer Paradise", "When Irish Eyes are Smiling", "Wedding Memories from Ireland" and "Best Loved Sacred Music". Her latest album is called "Send in the Clowns".
